Cocktails at Christmas for a successful year

Is it too early to be blogging about Christmas cocktails? Perhaps, many of you are thinking, ‘Wait! I still have so much to accomplish this year – not yet!’ But, what I love most about what I do, and the beautiful place I live in – Hout Bay, Cape Town – is it is possible to finish off a successful year & drink my cocktail too.

And for up and coming cocktail recipes, I always turn to the myriad of amazingly beautiful content that is out there on the internet. Specifically, the lifestyle blogs I follow on an ongoing basis. In the spirit of giving, I thought I’d share some of those with you:

Christmas Cocktails

  1. First up, and a brand new one I came across only today – while reading BBC news, can you believe?! – is The Tig. Try their super simple Holiday Champagne Cocktail. I will be trying it out this weekend. The Tig was founded by the beautiful Megan Markle. You’ll recognise her from Suits. Also, read up on the philanthropic humanitarian work she does.

  2. Next up, is a perfectly out there Autumn cocktail recipe. It’s by Feast & West, a blog founded by a good friend of mine’s sister. It’s just filled with delicious recipes and gorgeous images to go with them. Try their Ginger Pumpkin Beer Shandy.  I love the idea of spicy, yet refreshing shandy cocktails.

  3. And last, but definitely not least – as it really is my favourite spirit at the moment – a gin cocktail. They’re perfect for the hot Summer Christmases we enjoy here in South Africa. Try Yuppiechef’s The most delicious pomegranate gin cocktail. Be sure to use a good quality tonic water in your cocktails- it will be worth it! And if you’re looking for some incredibly creative tasting gins – look no further than Wilderer Fynbox Gin or The Woodstock Gin Company’s Inception wine based gin.

I can’t wait to try each of them myself. And I hope to do so while hosting a modest dinner party with friends, or just for sundowners overlooking the bay.
